INCI Name: Caprylic/Capric Tryglyceride, Cocos Nucifera Oil
What is it: Fractionated coconut oil is coconut oil that has had the long chain triglycerides removed, leaving the short and medium chain triglycerides, to create a lightweight liquid oil.
Usage Rate: Up to 100%.
Uses: Use as a carrier oil, or as an ingredient in skincare formulations. Fractionated coconut oil is inexpensive and lightweight with little to no scent. I like it in products like cleansing oils and balms, which are wash-off products. It can also be a good base for massage products, and works well as a simple base for blends of more expensive oils in facial serums.
Benefits: Moisturizing, Provides lightweight and non-greasy hydration. Easily absorbed by the skin and hair, delivering nutrients without leaving a heavy residue. Remains liquid at room temperature. Contains capric and caprylic acids, which have natural antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Suitable for sensitive skin types. Non-Comedogenic: Unlikely to clog pores, making it a good option for acne-prone skin. Excellent carrier oil for essential oils, enhancing their absorption and effectiveness when used in aromatherapy and topical applications.
